10/21/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
We discussed the travel plans for UNO. 10 people are traveling to UNO, and the 3 drivers received maps to the hotel, and the two ranges. We also discussed some of the fundraising including the grants that we have applied for this year thanks to Jenny Romanin and the other executive members. Approximately $17,500 applied for.
New jackets and polos were delivered by Jenny. You need to pay for your jacket if you have not already since jackets are not included with your dues. The polos are included though.
Also, Jenny talked about another fundraising opportunity this spring in Raton, NM. She said that we are planning on hosting a shoot (we pull, score, etc.) at the NRA Whittington Center. We will create a page for the shoot when the flyer is finalized and sent out to other teams but here are the basics right now.
Who: CSU Shotgun Club hosts, inviting other collegaite clubs.
What: Fundraiser shoot before Nationals
When: March 19th-21st (Friday-Sunday last part of spring break)
Why: To practice ALL of the exact targets for Nationals, and raise money.
How: Jenny Romanin is setting this up. Thanks Jenny!

We collected money from people for Ramvitational and Iowa. Everyone received a few donation letters to send to thier friends/family.
10/7/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
We discussed the results from the Ramvitational and then the travel plans for Iowa. Only 7 people are traveling to Iowa. We are staying at the Econo Lodge at 4755 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA.
9/30/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
This meeting we discussed the travel plans for the Ramvitational on Oct. 3rd and 4th. We have to organize squads, pull, score, and shoot in this competiton. We are staying at the Airport Value Inn on Space Village Road. Check out the Calendar for the exact address, or just Google it.
If you just want to help pull/score, or have family or friends that can help, please invite them to come and let Daniel know you are bringing helpers. There are going to be some youth 4-H members to help us as well.
9/23/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
This meeting we discussed the results from Fort Hays shoot and the organization of our shoot, the Ramvitational. We will be hosting our shoot at Pikes Peak Gun Club in Colorado Springs. We have to pull, score, squad, and shoot. It will be a fun but busy weekend.
We also collected any remaining dues and money from the Fort Hays shoot. If you still owe money for anything, contact Garrett to get paid up.
9/16/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
This meeting we discussed the final travel plans for the Fort Hays shoot. The website was displayed to new members. A brief video clip of Todd Bender was shown to illustrate foot position and stance for skeet shooting. Dues were collected for almost anyone. If you still need to pay your dues, contact Garrett to get paid up. Most everyone that missed paperwork from the last meetings filled them out this week. If you are still missing paperwork including health insurance info, driver waiver form, passenger waiver, etc, then you need to contact Daniel to get the forms. They may be available at the next meeting too.
9/10/09 Lory Student Center Room 208 7 p.m.
This was the first meeting of the year setup by club sports. There is a fundraiser shoot out at Kiowa on Sept. 12th, and a few of the other colleges have sent us their fliers already. Please read the Expected Competitions for more info.
We discussed the general info related to the club, most of which can be found under the Prospective Members links on the left side of this page. We filled out the majority of the paperwork involved with joining the team. If you missed this meeting, and you are still interested in joining our club, then make sure you attend the next meeting listed on the homepage.
4/8/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
This meeting was a continuation of the discussion about the direction of our club. Either a more competitive atmosphere with mandatory practices, declared traveling varsity team, more compensation for varsity members, OR a more recreational atmosphere. This decision will need to be made in the near future to decide on appropriate dues for next semester and standard operation procedures for general members and varsity members.
The main deterrant from making our team more competitive seemed to be the lack of funding combined with the high cost of participating in shotgun sports.

During the meeting we discussed the upcoming TSSC "Old Guys" Shoot at Buckley A.F.B. that was scheduled for April 4th. The weather report for Denver on April 4th was basically a blizzard, so we took a vote and decided to move the shoot date to Sunday, April 19th. This is the day after the Memorial Shoot at Kiowa Creek.
We also talked about a newly discovered shoot; the 1st Annual "Capital Challenge Shoot Off" at Colorado Clays. It is an event hosted at Colorado Clays in Brighton on Saturday, April 11th. Here is the description sent out with the flyer.
"The shootout is an opportunity to engage Colorado lawmakers and their constituents in an afternoon of trap shooting and sporting clays. The purpose of educating both our Legislators and the public on the importance of sportsmen to our state."
Next, we discussed the Memorial Shoot on April 18th at Kiowa Creek. Everyone was reminded to RSVP to Andrew (ajmid2n@rams.colostate.edu) with the number of people that believe are coming. We need to have a good estimate of the number of shooters to coordinate with Kiowa Creek Sporting.
Jake mentioned an upcoming NSSA shoot at Buckley AFB. It is a registered International Skeet shoot of 100 targets, 12 gauge only, costing approx. $17 if you have your NSSA membership up to date.
Jenny announced that there is a sporting clays competition at Great Guns on August 20-23. Great Guns is looking for people to help run the event. More details to be posted.
Tyler Nelson announced that there will be a CSU Ducks Unlimited Banquet on Friday, April 17th at the Fort Collins Country Club. It will cost $25 and starts at 6 p.m. for anyone interested.
Members were reminded to pay off thier outstanding balances.
Lastly, we discussed the future of our club and of our sport. Brian said that he thinks that the club will have to make a decision to move the club in one of two directions in the near future. Either in a competitive or recreational direction. Discussion of the pros and cons of each side followed. It was made clear that we would not be able to make any decisions about changes to our club at this time, but more that we all should be thinking about what we enjoy about our club and what we could make better.
3/11/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
At this meeting we discussed the results from the Kansas State shoot last weekend. Jenny Romanin won Women's Doubles Trap and Elizabeth Grace Tresslar was runner up in Women's Trap. Still waiting on the full result sheet...
We also discussed the National Competition in San Antonio. There are 23 people traveling, so we arranged who was driving and when they were leaving. Most of the vehicles are leaving on Sunday.
The competition starts on Thursday the 19th and goes until the afternoon of Sunday the 22nd. The full schedule is as follows:
Thursday - International Trap
Friday - American Trap
Saturday - American Skeet
Sunday - International Skeet
Thurs. THRU Sun. - 5 Stand
All the events are out of 100 targets except for 5 Stand, which is only 50.
The day you shoot 5 Stand depends on the squad you end up on.
We will know more info about 5 stand when we get to the complex.
We voted and decided that everyone would go to Bandera Gun Club outside of San Antonio on Tuesday to practice shooting in the heat. Then, on Wednesday, we will sign in at the National Shooting Complex and possibly practice for the first event, International Trap. Also on Wednesday there is a dinner for all of the teams participating.
We also plan on going to the Riverwalk in San Antonio one night. We will stop at the Alamo before we have dinner at one of the many restaurants at the Riverwalk. This is considered to be a team dinner night.
Andrew handed out the vests that were ordered at the beginning of the semester, delivered as promised before Nationals.
Brian showed some barrel stickers that he made and asked if anyone would be interested in them as well. About 10 people said that they would like some barrel stickers on thier guns.
Andrew and Jake mentioned that Buckley A.F.B. will be hosting a NSSA 100 target registered event this Saturday for anyone who has thier Buckley ID and wants to come. On Sunday around 11:00 a.m., there will be Wobble Trap competition? or practice? Basically, if you want to shoot at Buckley this weekend, get your Buckley photo ID Thursday (tomorrow) or Friday from 9-3(5?). Just show up early to make sure you don't miss your chance.
Garrett announced that there was some kind of Walk or Run benefit thingy going on but failed to mention any details to anyone about dates or times or location. I will be trying to get this info from him to post more accurate info soon.
Brian sold more t-shirts and hoodies to people. Then the meeting was over.
3/4/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
At this meeting we discussed the results from Missouri Shoot. Elizabeth Grace Tresslar and Jenny Romanin both won trophies from this shoot. Check out the results.
We also talked about the driving arrangements for the Kansas State Shoot this coming weekend. There are 11 people traveling to Lenexa Kansas for the last shoot before Nationals. It is about a 9 hour drive to Lenexa. It is on the border of Missouri and Kansas.
We passed out the Buckley Air Force Base Tri Service Sportsmens Club membership passes. People can now go to Buckley A.F.B. between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to have thier picture taken for a Buckley I.D. to enter the air force base.
Andrew announced that the vests that were ordered at the beginning of the semester will be ready before Nationals. Andrew is going to pick them up from the embroidery shop next week.
Tyler Nelson had an annoucement about the CSU Ducks Unlimited Banquet dinner. He sold a few tickets to people.
Lastly, we breifly discussed the Nationals competition coming up over spring break week, March 19th-22nd. People are mostly leaving Fort Collins around Monday. There are 22 people signed up for the competition, so there will be quite a few cars driving. We will discuss the details of the trip next week.
2/25/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
The main purose of this meeting was to discuss the results of the Wyoming Shoot last weekend. CSU won HOA Team, and 1st Place Team in 3 out of 4 events. Check out the results.
We also talked about Nationals registration and outstanding balances for members. Since there were so many outstanding balances for members, the club account was running low on funds. We had to collect funds from everyone that could pay immediately so that we could register for Nationals.
Then we talked about the next shoot in Missouri. There are only 8 people going to Missouri. The 13 hour drive each way discouraged many people from participating.
2/18/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
Paperwork for our National Competition was filled out at this meeting. Basic info like name, address, which events you wanted to compete in, etc. was collected so that we can finish the registration process early to avoid late fees. If you did not make it to this meeting and plan on attending Nationals in San Antonio Texas from March 19th-22nd (Spring Break) then you need to contact Andrew at ajmid2n@rams.colostate.edu or Brian at brian.hicks@rams.colostate.edu before the end of next week.
We also decided on the squads for Wyoming this weekend and went over the directions to get to the Cheyenne Municipal Trap Club for Saturday morning at 8. There are going to be 5 squads of five shooters this weekend and then some extra observers that are too hesitant to shoot this weekend.
We announced that the Memorial Shoot is going to be at Kiowa Creek Sporting on Saturday, April 18th. It will be 100 Sporting Clays targets that the club will volunteer to pull and possibly score for anyone that shows up. After everyone else has shot, any volunteers can also complete the course if they choose. It should cost somewhere around $60/person.
We also caught a few people at the meeting that had missed some of the paperwork from the meeting 2 weeks ago. The participation waiver, passenger waiver, health history etc.
To continue to t-shirt converstaions from last meeting, one person brought in a hand drawn design of a new t-shirt idea. The "old shirt" (pictured below) designs were ordered and are being picked up Friday before the Wyoming Shoot. There are 90 shirts and 30 hoodies. The t-shirts come in 3 colors; black, white, and gray. Ordered equal numbers in each color for each size. 7 smalls, 8 mediums, 10 larges, and 5 extra larges. Hoodies are gray, 15 large, and 15 extra large. There is also some merchanide left over from last semester.
2/11/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
The main purpose of this meeting was to determine rides to the upcoming Wyoming Shoot. It was decided that each group carpooling would determine how/where they would meet Saturday 2/21/09 early enough to get to Cheyenne by 8 a.m. at the latest. There are 27 people planning on traveling to the Wyoming Shoot on Saturady 2/21/09.
Members on the intramural bowling teams were reminded to be at Chipper's Lanes on Horsetooth and College Ave. by 9:00 p.m. There are three teams of 4 people each signed up for the intramural bowling league. It was decided by the people signed up of the bowling league to have t-shirts made for each team name with the players nickname on the back.
More t-shirt discussion followed and a vote was taken for the current course of action for the team merchandise. There were 4 options for the vote on current merchandise actions.
1. Order only the "old" CSU Shotgun Sports Logo. (Pictured below)
2. Order some old shirts while we work on new designs.
3. Work only on new designs, but have the option to order old shirts if new designs are not materializing.
4. Only work on new designs and forget the old design.
27 people were present at the meeting and the vote went:
0 votes for Option 1 (Only order old shirts)
18 votes for Option 2 (Order some old shirts and work on new designs)
9 votes for Option 3 (Work on new designs with ordering of old shirts as backup)
0 votes for Option 4 (Only work on new designs)
The vote started some more discussion on new design ideas and groups were formed to design and order merchandise. The old shirts have since been ordered and will possibly be in stock for sale before the Wyoming Shoot on 2/21/09.

2/4/09 Military Sciences 7 p.m.
The main purpose of this meeting was to fill out paperwork for offically joining the team. The paperwork included Passenger Waiver Form, Driver Insurance Form, Participation Form, Code of Conduct Form, and paperwork for IDs to get on Buckley Air Force Base. If you missed ANY of these forms, you need to talk to Andrew or go to the Club Sports office on the second floor of the Rec. Center. Just tell them your name and that you need to fill out any missing paperwork for the Shotgun Sports Club. If you missed the Buckley Form, you have to get that form from Andrew because Club Sports has nothing to do with our range membership paperwork.
We also got an inital count of people that want to participate at each of the shoots. The rough counts were 20ish for Wyoming, 12ish for Missouri, and 17ish for Kansas.
There were some questions about the vest order that was recently placed. If you ordered a vest, they may be ready just before Nationals, but it is hard to say as of yet. If you have any questions related to ordering a vest, talk to Andrew. He is handling the vest orders.
We also took a vote to see if we should stay in Cheyenne for the Wyoming Shoot on the night of Saturady the 21st. The reasoning is that we could possibly drive back Saturday night and then back up Sunday morning early. The vote was nearly unanimously to get hotel rooms for Saturday night.
